Kambaku Lodges offers three extraordinary destinations, each with its own distinct character and sense of place.
Kambaku Safari Lodge and Kambaku River Sands are nestled in the heart of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve — Big Five territory at its most authentic, where the African wilderness unfolds in all its raw and magnificent glory. One celebrates family-friendly hospitality done beautifully. The other elevates the safari experience to the art of five-star living.
Kambaku At Sea awaits on the Garden Route — set in the remarkable coastal town of Sedgefield, home to the Knysna seahorse, one of the rarest marine species on earth. Here, estuary, mountain and forest converge in a starlit existence that is simply unlike anywhere else in South Africa.

For owners Bryce and Nicola, Kambaku represents the convergence of two lifelong passions — world-class hospitality and meaningful conservation. It is this shared dream, rooted in a deep love for Africa’s natural heritage, that makes Kambaku what it is today.
That vision has grown into three distinct travel destinations, each with its own character, united by an unwavering reverence for the natural world.
Just back from the most incredible safari experience and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. We were lucky enough to see the Big Five, which was truly unforgettable and something our family will cherish forever.
We had the most amazing 4 night stay at Kambaku River Sands - the experience far exceeded our expectations! The thatched hut accommodations were spacious and well appointed - without being fussy. What made our trip were the safari drives - our Guide Jared and Tracker Dougie were outstanding!! Some rare sightings - a white lion cub, lions feasting on a zebra, a leopard dragging an impala up a tree, mating lions - all just incredible sightings!
This is our third visit in 5 years.
When we first went we wanted to introduce young children to wildlife without breaking holiday budget … and Kambaku delivered!
And we returned twice because there isn’t anything missing from our perspective. Rooms are lovely (just been renovated), the staff (from reservations to tracker) are engaging, helpful and want us to enjoy the wildlife as much as they do.
