Sustainability at Kambaku
Kambaku Lodges are plastic free
Respecting, protecting and sustaining the environment we are in is at the heart of everything we do at Kambaku Lodges.Â
Every effort is taken to reduce the waste our lodges produce and we are proud of the fact that no single use drinks bottles are used at both our lodges.Â
When you arrive at one of our lodges you receive your very own water bottle that you can take home with you. This bottle can be refilled with water countless times during your stay.Â
All of our soft drinks are in cans that are recycled easily.Â

Kambaku Lodges are solar powered
When we took over Kambaku Safari Lodge in 2011, it took around 8 months from start to finish to convert the entire camp to solar but since then we have been running completely successfully on solar energy.
When we took over River Sands in 2013, the camp was on the grid, and seeing that Safari Lodge was running so successfully on solar, the decision was made to convert River Sands as well.
This project was massive, including the erecting of over 400 solar panels, invertors and a battery array to keep the lights on for at least 3 days.
All this without forfeiting any of the luxuries that River Sands has to offer.
Meals at Kambaku Lodges are Sustainably Sourced
Sustainability is very important to us at Kambaku Lodges. Our goal has and always will to ensure we make as small of an impact on the environment around us. One of the initiatives we are very proud to be a part of is the collaborative partnership with Indalo and the Timbavati Foundation allowing us to offer sustainably sourced fresh produce.
The partnership will also allow Indalo and the Timbavati to cocreate an Enterprise Supplier Development Programme to build and support a cohort of carefully selected community-based enterprises that will be contracted to supply goods and services required by the lodges.
