Kambaku Lodges are plastic free
At Kambaku Lodges, sustainable tourism isn’t a policy — it’s a philosophy. Respecting, protecting and preserving the extraordinary natural environments we call home is at the heart of everything we do.
Kambaku Lodges is proudly single-use plastic bottle free. Every guest receives their own reusable Kambaku water bottle on arrival — a practical memento that can be refilled throughout your stay and taken home as a reminder of the wilderness you helped protect. Our soft drinks are served in recyclable cans, because the landscapes that make Kambaku so special are worth fighting for.
Kambaku Lodges are solar powered
Kambaku Lodges has been at the forefront of sustainable safari living for over a decade. When we took ownership of Kambaku Safari Lodge in 2011, we committed to a full solar conversion — and within eight months, the lodge was running entirely on clean, renewable energy.
Inspired by that success, we made the same commitment to Kambaku River Sands in 2013. Over 400 solar panels, state-of-the-art inverters, and a battery array capable of powering the lodge for up to three days — all the indulgence you expect from a five-star bush retreat, powered entirely by the African sun.
Partnership with the Timbavati Foundation
At Kambaku Lodges, giving back to the communities that surround us is as important as the safari experience itself. Through our partnership with the Timbavati Foundation, we support meaningful, community-led initiatives that create lasting change.
Guests are invited to join our Township Immersive Tours — an authentic experience that brings you face to face with local life, culture and cuisine. Visit the EcoPod, Wildflower and Sewing Centres, or witness the remarkable work of community grandmothers who prepare daily meals for over 120 children.
Our partnership also supports the sourcing of local produce and handcrafted curios, creating sustainable employment for the communities we are privileged to call our neighbours.
